Manufacturer's description

Shell Heat Transfer Oil S2 S is based on a selection of highly refined mineral oils, chosen for their ability to deliver superior performance in indirect closed heat transfer systems.

Applications

  • Heat exchange systems attached to industrial applications, such as industrial processes, chemical plants, textile manufacturers, etc., and in domestic applications such as oil-filled radiators. Shell Heat Transfer Oil S2 S can be used at high temperatures in heat transfer equipment within the following application limits:
  • Maximum bulk temperature: 300 °CSpecifications, approvals and recommendations
  • Classified as: ISO 6743-12 Family QFor the full list of equipment approvals and recommendations, please consult your local Shell Technical Helpdesk representative.
  • Shell Heat Transfer Oil S2 S can be used at high temperatures in heat transfer equipment within the following application limits

Performance & benefits

  • Extended maintenance intervals: based on a rigorous selection of highly refined oils resistant to cracking, oxidation and thickening, giving extended oil life and good pump circulation, so the film temperature at the hot surface does not exceed the allowed limit.
  • System efficiency: low viscosity gives excellent fluidity and heat transfer over a wide temperature range; low vapour pressure resists cracking, minimising the formation of volatile decomposition compounds.
  • System protection: non-corrosive and highly solvent, reducing and holding oxidation products in solution, keeping internal and heat-exchange surfaces clean.
