Mobilgear SHC XMP Series are high-performance, fully synthetic industrial gear oils based on Mobil's polyalphaolefin (PAO) technology, chosen for its exceptional oxidation resistance, thermal stability, naturally high viscosity index and excellent low-temperature fluidity. Their high viscosity index and low traction coefficient help reduce power consumption in many gear drives, while an advanced proprietary additive system provides excellent protection against scuffing and a high level of resistance to micropitting fatigue, along with improved lubrication of gearbox rolling element bearings. They are recommended for enclosed industrial gear drives — steel-on-steel spur, helical and bevel gears — especially heavily loaded, surface-hardened gearboxes prone to micropitting, and for applications with extreme low or high temperatures or severe corrosion exposure. Typical uses include wind turbines (particularly shock-loaded, remote or extreme-temperature units), plastic extruder gearboxes, and modern heavily loaded gearboxes in the paper, steel, oil, textile, lumber and cement industries. Key benefits include outstanding rust and corrosion protection (including salt and acidic water), excellent filter life even when moderately wet, strong compatibility with ferrous and non-ferrous metals at elevated temperatures, and good compatibility with mineral gear oils for easier conversion (though system flushing is recommended before changeover). Grades ISO VG 320 and 460 meet or exceed AGMA 9005-F16 and DIN 51517-3:2009-06.
