Manufacturer's description

PETRONAS Tutela SP is an extreme-pressure lithium grease specially developed for automotive applications. It is formulated with selected mineral base oils thickened with lithium 12-hydroxystearate soap and enhanced with advanced extreme-pressure, antioxidant, anti-rust and corrosion-inhibiting additives plus molybdenum disulphide. The result is excellent load-carrying capability, wear protection, very good mechanical stability and strong resistance to water wash-out. The grease is recommended for applications involving oscillating or limited relative motion where fretting corrosion is likely to occur, including chassis lubrication and grease-lubricated universal and CV joints. Its special additives allow it to withstand heavy shock loads without losing the lubricant film, while its high thermal and oxidation stability lets it operate at elevated temperatures without hardening or forming bearing deposits. It protects bearings and metal surfaces against rust and corrosion even when contaminated with water. The recommended operating temperature range is -30 °C to +120 °C (max. +130 °C). Typical properties: NLGI 2, grey colour, worked penetration 280 mm/10, dropping point 188 °C, four-ball weld load 250 kg, 1% molybdenum disulphide, base oil viscosity 200 cSt at 40 °C. Performance levels: DIN 51502 KPF2K-30, ISO 12924 L-XC(F)CIB2.

Applications

  • Recommended for applications involving oscillating or limited relative motion where fretting corrosion is likely to occur.
  • Recommended for chassis lubrication and grease-lubricated universal joints (CV joints).
  • Recommended for an operating temperature range of -30°C to +120°C (max. +130°C).

Performance & benefits

  • Contains special additives that let the grease withstand heavy shock loads without losing its lubricant film, through its high load-carrying capacity.
  • Protects equipment components from excessive wear and provides long equipment life, through very good anti-wear protection.
  • Protects bearings and metal surfaces against corrosion, even when the grease is contaminated with water, through excellent rust and corrosion protection.
  • Has very good oxidation resistance and can withstand high operating temperatures without hardening or forming bearing deposits, through high thermal and oxidation stability.
  • A highly stable grease with little to no change in consistency when worked, for reliable wheel-bearing lubrication.

Standards & approvals

  • DIN 51502 KPF2K-30

    Lubricant designation KPF2K-30 — DIN 51502

The DIN 51502 short code "KPF2K-30": thickener/additive letters, NLGI consistency, upper temperature-range letter and lower service-temperature limit for a rolling/plain-bearing grease.

  • ISO 12924 L-XC(F)CIB 2

    Grease classification L-XC(F)CIB 2 — ISO 12924

An ISO 12924 grease code: "X" marks a grease, the following letters give the lowest/highest service temperature, water resistance and EP performance, and the trailing figure is the NLGI consistency grade.
