Manufacturer's description
Mobilgard 540 is a high quality marine diesel engine cylinder oil for slow-speed crosshead engines, specifically formulated for engines running on 0.50 percent sulphur fuels and suitable for ultra low (<0.10%S) sulphur fuel operation in conjunction with OEM guidance. Designed to maximise all-round performance through a balanced formulation, it has a BN level of 40 mg KOH/g to sufficiently neutralise acid formation while keeping engines clean and minimising maintenance, with an optimum viscosity of 20 cSt at 100°C for good lubricant distribution and oil film retention. The oil is intended for marine crosshead engines, where it combats deposits and scuffing-related wear associated with 0.50 percent sulphur fuel use through excellent acid neutralisation, keeping engines cleaner and reducing component wear rates, with excellent thermal and oxidative stability across a wide range of operating conditions. Mobilgard 540 carries approvals from Everllence (formerly MAN Energy Solutions) Category I for 2-stroke marine engines and WinGD Ltd. general liquid fuel usage guidelines, and meets or exceeds Japan Engine Corporation (heritage MHI) 2-stroke engine requirements per manufacturers' latest operating guidelines.
