Multifunctional lubricant for low-speed marine diesel engines. Shell Melina S is a high-performance low-speed diesel engine lubricant based on a blend of highly refined, high-viscosity oils and a balanced selection of additives. It is designed to deliver the highest levels of protection in low-speed marine diesel engines, but being multifunctional it can be used in a range of marine equipment and rationalises the number of lubricant grades carried on board. Melina S is NOT recommended for crosshead piston engines; the appropriate oils should be used

• Turbochargers, lubricated azimuth drives, stern tubes and deck equipment

Performance & benefits

• Improves engine reliability and operation: effectively neutralises highly corrosive combustion acids that can contaminate the main system as cylinder oil drains down the piston surface.
