Manufacturer's description

GtL Medicinal White Oil. Shell Ondina X 415 is a hydrocarbon fluid based on Shell Gas-To-Liquid Technology. It is fully saturated with a high degree of iso paraffinic structures. Shell Ondina X 415 fulfills the stringent international pharmacopoeia purity requirements. This product is classified as Readily Biodegradable by OECD 301B; It’s registered to NSF requirements.

Applications

  • Excellent mineral-oil free option as animal vaccine adjuvants, cosmetic/personal care products’ ingredients as well as other Life Sciences applications requiring a very high purity level. An alternative to mineral white oils, silicone oils, and other iso-paraffins.

Performance & benefits

  • Readily biodegradable*
  • High Degree of BiodegradabilityExceeds the normal requirement of 60% biodegradation in the OECD 301B test after 28 days.

Standards & approvals

  • FDA 21 CFR 178.3620(a)

FDA 21 CFR 178.3620(a) — white mineral oil, technical grade

The US regulation setting purity requirements for technical white mineral oil used where incidental food contact may occur.

  • FDA 21 CFR 172.878

FDA 21 CFR 172.878 — white mineral oil, food grade

The US regulation setting purity requirements for white mineral oil approved as a direct food additive.

  • USP/NF

United States Pharmacopeia / National Formulary purity grade

Compendium of purity standards published by the US Pharmacopeia together with the National Formulary, used to qualify pharmaceutical white oils.Source

  • NSF H1

NSF H1 — incidental food contact lubricant

The NSF registration for lubricants that may incidentally touch food during production. The formulation is limited to permitted substances, and the contact stays incidental, not intended.

  • NSF HX-1

    NSF HX-1 — food-contact lubricant component

The NSF category for base stocks and additives not on the H1 list but shown safe for incidental food contact, used to formulate H1-equivalent lubricants.

  • NSF 3H

NSF 3H — soluble/release oil for direct food contact

The NSF category for edible-oil-based release and soluble oils that may directly contact food, such as meat and poultry.

  • European Pharmacopoeia

    European Pharmacopoeia (purity requirements)

The official collection of quality and purity standards published by EDQM. White oils declare conformity with its liquid-paraffin monographs.Source

  • OECD 301B

    OECD 301B biodegradability above 60 %

A test result rather than a norm: OECD 301B measures the carbon dioxide evolved over 28 days. Above 60 % counts as "readily biodegradable", the threshold the environmental labels require.
