Manufacturer's description
Prowax 540 is a mid-range melting point product in the Prowax line of petroleum slack and scale waxes. It is a translucent crystalline material in the solid state and a yellow-to-dark amber, clear liquid when molten, derived from petroleum via a carefully controlled refining process. Prowax 540 is comprised of a mixture of straight-chain normal paraffin and branched iso-paraffin hydrocarbons, and is produced and controlled according to the ExxonMobil Product Quality Management System, EN ISO 9000 or equivalent standard. Typical applications, subject to applicable laws and regulations in each jurisdiction, include wax emulsions and wax blends. Typical properties include a congealing point of 56.0-62.0°C (ASTM D938), kinematic viscosity of 5.5-7.5 mm²/s at 100°C, oil content up to 15.0 wt% (ASTM D721), ASTM colour by auto tristimulus up to 2.0 (ASTM D6045), and a flash point (Cleveland Open Cup, ASTM D92) of at least 220°C.
