Manufacturer's description
Cat Compactor Oil (Synthetic Oil) is a premium PAO (polyalphaolefin) synthetic gear and bearing lubricant with no viscosity improvers, offering exceptional rust and corrosion protection. Caterpillar states it is the only oil recommended for use in certain compartments of Cat Compactors and Cat Hydraulic Mining Shovels. It is specified for all 500 Series soil compactors with the new pod-style drum, all earlier-model 500 Series compactors without oil pockets in the old-style drum, and for the distribution gearboxes, travel gearboxes and swing gearboxes in Cat Hydraulic Mining Shovels. At an ISO 220 viscosity grade, typical values from the Cat technical data sheet include a viscosity of 221 cSt at 40°C and 28.5 cSt at 100°C (ASTM D445), and a high viscosity index of 169 (ASTM D2270).
