Cat HYDO Advanced 10 combines premium additives with specially selected, controlled higher-quality base oils to extend drain intervals and give extra protection to hydraulic system components. Caterpillar developed the formulation through severe qualification testing in the field and laboratory over thousands of hours, positioning it as the preferred fill for Cat machine hydraulic systems and backward compatible with older Cat HYDO 10W fills. Compared with the previous Cat HYDO 10W, Cat HYDO Advanced 10 offers 6,000-hour extended drain intervals (up to triple the hours) when monitored with the Caterpillar S•O•S Services oil analysis program every 500 hours. Specially developed additives form a long-lasting protective layer on wear surfaces in high-pressure piston, vane and gear hydraulic pumps, emulsifiers keep water held in dispersion rather than letting it separate out, and detergent dispersants improve filtration and keep components clean. It also offers faster air release and improved corrosion protection. Typical values from the Cat technical data sheet include a viscosity of 42 cSt at 40°C and 6.7 cSt at 100°C (SAE viscosity grade 10W), a viscosity index of 114, a pour point of -39°C, a pumping viscosity of 15,000 mPa·s at -30°C, a pass on rust protection (ASTM D665B) and oxidation stability of more than 5,000 hours (ASTM D943).
