Cat ELC Advanced (Extended Life Coolant) is developed, tested and approved by Caterpillar for Cat and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) diesel, gasoline and gas fuel engines, supplied as a 50/50 premix or as concentrate. It uses advanced organic acid additive inhibitor technology for maximum protection of copper, solder, brass, steel, cast iron and aluminum, with excellent passivation and flux compatibility (including controlled atmosphere brazing materials), effective high-temperature aluminum protection that eliminates nitrite depletion, and expanded elastomer compatibility. It is phosphate, borate, silicate, 2EHA and amine free. Compared with the standard Cat ELC, Cat ELC Advanced offers an extended service life: up to 3,000 hours or 322,000 km (200,000 miles) / 3 years in Cat machines and commercial engines, and up to 20,000 hours or 6 years in Cat-powered on-highway trucks (whichever comes first, with annual S•O•S Level 2 coolant analysis). A one-time addition of Cat ELC Extender at 6,000 hours (or 500,000 km / 300,000 miles for trucks) exceeds Cat EC-1 requirements and protects against cylinder liner/block pitting and cavitation erosion, extending performance to the full drain interval. Cat ELC Advanced meets or exceeds ASTM D6210, ASTM D3306, Caterpillar EC-1, Deutz DQC CB-14, TMC RP 364/351 (color), and the phosphate-free and silicate-free requirements of European and Japanese OEMs respectively.
