Manufacturer's description

PETRONAS Hydraulic HVZF 46 belongs to the premium performance, zinc-free, wear-resistant PETRONAS Hydraulic HVZF Series, specially created for a wide range of mobile and industrial hydraulic equipment operating under normal to heavy-duty conditions and in the presence of water that could otherwise cause filter blocking. It is recommended for hydraulic systems needing good control of fluid viscosity, systems subjected to high or rapid temperature variations, systems with smaller reservoirs and coolers generating high thermal stress, systems sensitive to sludge and varnish formation with tight-tolerance pumps and servo valves, and systems demanding long-life lubricants. Formulated with high quality selected base oils, a shear-stable VI improver and advanced zinc-free anti-wear, antioxidant, anti-rust and anti-foam additives, it delivers excellent anti-wear protection, more stable performance across a wide temperature range, and an oxidation life up to 10 times longer than the minimum ISO 11158 HV TOST requirement. Grade 46 has a kinematic viscosity of 46 cSt at 40°C and 8.0 cSt at 100°C, a viscosity index of 146, a flash point of 220°C and a pour point of -33°C. PETRONAS Hydraulic HVZF Series meets or exceeds DIN 51524 Part II HLP and Part III HVLP, ISO 11158 HV, Eaton Brochure 03-401-2010, Fives Cincinnati P-68/P-69/P-70 and Parker Denison HF-0/HF-1/HF-2.

Applications

  • Various mobile and industrial hydraulic systems operating under normal to extremely heavy-duty conditions that demand good control of fluid viscosity during the operating cycle.
  • Hydraulic systems subjected to high or rapid variations in operating or ambient temperatures.
  • Hydraulic systems with small reservoirs and small coolers that generate high thermal stress on the fluid.
  • Systems sensitive to sludge and varnish formation, with tight-tolerance pumps and servo valves.
  • Hydraulic systems demanding long-life lubricants.

Performance & benefits

  • Reduces the risk of ash formation, maximising filter efficiency, thanks to its zinc-free formula.
  • Ensures superior performance and protection over a wide temperature range, through a high viscosity index.
  • Ensures proper protection of equipment components during cold starts.
  • Protects equipment components from excessive wear and provides long equipment life, through high anti-wear protection.
  • Maintains high filter efficiency without causing undue pressure drop, extending filter lifetime.
  • Maintains performance under high temperatures and pressure, enabling long oil drain intervals, through excellent thermal and oxidation stability.
  • Inhibits corrosion in the presence of water, improving equipment life, through high rust and corrosion protection.
  • Protects the hydraulic system from water's degenerative effects and reduces maintenance costs, thanks to excellent water separability.
  • Ensures smooth operation through fast air release, protecting the system from air's degenerative effects and reducing maintenance costs.
  • Is compatible with most metal alloys, ensuring trouble-free system performance.
  • Is compatible with most seals and elastomers, preventing oil leaks and contamination from seal erosion.

Standards & approvals

  • DIN 51524-2 HLP

Hydraulic oil HLP — DIN 51524, part 2

Part 2 of the German hydraulic fluid standard: HLP oils — mineral oils with oxidation, corrosion and antiwear additives. It is the most widely quoted reference in industrial hydraulics.

  • Vickers 35VQ-25

    Vickers 35VQ25 vane-pump wear test

A vane-pump bench wear test (Eaton/Vickers) used to qualify anti-wear hydraulic fluids for high-pressure mobile pumps; a fluid 'meets 35VQ25' rather than being certified by Vickers itself.Source

  • Fives Cincinnati P-68

Fives Cincinnati P-68 — ISO VG 32 hydraulic oil

An approval number from the Fives Cincinnati list of fluids for use in its own machine tools. Approved hydraulic fluids must pass its own wear, filterability and water separation tests, beyond the DIN 51524-2 level.

  • Fives Cincinnati P-69

Fives Cincinnati P-69 — ISO VG 68 hydraulic oil

An approval number from the Fives Cincinnati list of fluids for use in its own machine tools. Approved hydraulic fluids must pass its own wear, filterability and water separation tests, beyond the DIN 51524-2 level.

  • ISO 11158 HV

Hydraulic oil, type H HV — ISO 11158

Class HV of ISO 11158: an antiwear hydraulic oil with a high viscosity index, for systems exposed to wide temperature swings.

  • Parker Denison HF-0 — hydraulic fluid, most severe level

The most severe level of the Denison hydraulic fluid specification: the oil must pass the wear test on both a vane pump and a piston pump, dry and in the presence of water. HF-0 subsumes HF-1 and HF-2.

  • Parker Denison HF-2 — hydraulic fluid

The HF-2 level of the Denison specification, defined by the vane pump wear test. It is the base requirement for hydraulic oils in Denison equipment.

  • Eaton 03-401-2010

    Eaton 03-401-2010 — hydraulic fluids

Eaton's hydraulic fluid specification for its own pumps and motors, which unified the former Vickers I-286-S and M-2950-S requirements.
