Manufacturer's description

Fully synthetic motor oil - Enhance your engine's efficiency by reducing friction for optimized performance Shell Helix Extra HX8 fully synthetic motor oil works hard to help keeping modern engines running efficiently and well protected. With Anti-Friction Technology, it helps to reduce engine frictions to provide enhanced fuel economy and protection suitable for all OEM-recommended drain intervals.

Applications

  • Shell Helix Extra HX8 X's fully synthetic formulation can be used in engines in a wide variety of modern vehicles including direct-injection turbocharged gasoline engines that face these demanding driving conditions, and can be recommended for customers who want to keep the same oil- drain interval, operating in extreme climates or driving in congested stop-start city traffic.
  • It is suitable for direct injection turbocharged gasoline engines where protection against low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI) is required.
  • Shell Helix Extra HX8 X can be used for gasoline engines, diesel engines (without particulate filters) and gas engines, and it is also suitable for use with biodiesel and gasoline/ethanol blends.

Performance & benefits

  • Shell’s superior active cleansing technology 1
  • Actively locks away harmful performance-robbing deposits. Excellent wear protection 2
  • Helps to extend engine life by protecting against wear, even in the toughest driving conditions.
  • Long-term resistance to oil degradationHelps to maintain protection throughout the oil-drain interval.
  • Low viscosity and low frictionEnhanced fuel economy with a corresponding reduction in emissions 3
  • Faster oil flow for quicker engine warm-up 4 Low-evaporation formulation 5
  • Low oil consumption for less frequent top-up.
  • Can be used for gasoline, diesel and gas engines, and is also suitable for biodiesel and gasoline/ethanol blends. Protects against low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI) in direct injection turbocharged gasoline engines 6
  • 1 Compared with Shell Helix mineral oils 2 Based on industry standard engine test carried out at an independent laboratory 3 Based on ACEA M111 fuel economy results compared with the industry reference oil 4 Compared with higher-viscosity oils 5 Based on NOACK volatility test and equipment manufacturers’ requirements 6 Based on Sequence IX LSPI test carried out at an independent laboratory
