US military specifications (MIL-L, MIL-PRF) and NATO codes define the lubricants accepted for military equipment – for example MIL-PRF-2105E for gear oils or MIL-PRF-5606 for hydraulic fluids. Many have become reference points for civilian use as well. German Bundeswehr technical specifications (TL) are grouped here too.
